Watch the video And of course it will only ever work with STM32 though KEIL would work with many processor vendors and models if you should need that and pay for it if you need more than their lite version for personal projects. I'm going to vote for Eclipse and the GNU toolchain. This setup will work on both Linux and Windows. Eclipse has a lot of plug-ins for various setups but you can always use a Makefile and build pretty much anything you want.
In addition to the usual Windows code, the setup can also be used with an Arduino plug-in. This was very slick! The code was running on a board that had inputs and outputa connected to knobs, switches and dials. Very cool! Everything needed for the project was in one place.
