Patent law interview program forum

Please stress to your students the importance of registering by the deadline as we will not be able to accept any late student registrations. Every year we hear from disappointed students who miss the deadline. We ask for your help in publicizing this opportunity early and often! This fee is non-refundable and must be paid via credit card at the time of registration.

Some schools cover the registration fee for their students, so be sure to check in with your career services office before registering. Law graduates and practicing attorneys are not eligible to participate. It is not required that students be patent bar eligible to register for the program; however, many employers require patent bar eligibility as a qualification for applying for interviews, and most employers strongly prefer patent bar eligible students.

For more information on eligibility for the patent bar, please refer to the General Requirements Bulletin from the U.

Patent and Trademark Office. If your firm would like to be added to our mailing list for program information, please contact us at Law-PatentProgram luc. Employers who are not able to attend the program but wish to receive resumes from interested students can sign up for a resume collect.

To request a resume collect, please register for PIPER and follow the prompts to post a job on our system. Location Philip H. Corboy Law Center 25 E. Post by Anonymous User » Sat Apr 11, am. Many recruiters will keep notes on the candidates who visit the hospitality suites, and with a little bit of luck, you may secure an interview or callback. Create firm cheat sheets.

Research all the firms attending PLIP and create one page or less cheat sheets for the firms you are interested in. You should know which practice areas a firm is known for, who the interviewers are, and which offices and practice areas you want to be considered for.

Review the cheat sheet before stepping foot in a hospitality suite or interview room and you will project confidence. Prepare application packages, not application materials. Prepare separate application packages ahead of time for the firms you are interested in. You should create a unique cover letter for each firm.

Behind each cover letter, attach a resume, writing sample and unofficial copies of all academic transcripts undergraduate, graduate and law school. Clip all your materials together neatly at the corner with a binder clip. When you walk into a hospitality suite or interview room, you can easily hand all of your materials to the representative without having to search in your bag for each individual piece.

Many firms fill their 2L patent associates through that program and if you wait to rely on OCI that will set you back in the process and positions may be filled before you get a chance to have a CB. Finally, related to splitting your summer, it depends on your schedule and when classes start, but keep in mind that many CBs will occur within the next few weeks after PLIP, so if you tried squeezing in another SA after that and before classes you may end up missing a lot of work to attend interviews, which the employer probably wouldn't like if you were just going to be there a short time anyhow.

I am a 3L from a T14 school. About a dozen of my classmates attended the PLIP in
