Just driven to the store to pick it up, un bolted the stock one, stuck the new one on, i see there are hood pins, and i cant find the bolt again with the same spanner, is it a different size? I bought BC Broncos deluxe hood and used my factory hinges. The BC hood is very nice as far as fit. I held my hinges up to the back side of the hood right in the center of the dips for the hinges and what I did was mark the hood right through the holes in the hinges where I drilled the spotwelds out. I bolted the hinges right to the hood with large fender washers. When I put the hinges on the cowl, it lined right up perfect.

Didn't have to slot anything. I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain. That is plenty strong for the back side of a fiberglass hood. Two on each side is plenty. As long as you use large washers, you should be fine. Good luck with it. Oh yeah, 2bad thanks for sticking around this is why we all need the veterans like you. Close the hood carefully on the pins. When the hood is lifted, you will see the marks where you need to drill for the hood portion of the pin system. Hope that makes sense for you-- good luck. ALSO lay a few strips of masking tape over the area to drill and drill from the top down Here are the pics.

It may not be pretty but it does its job. The reason I opted not to use the bump stop locations is that it would have place the holes in the hood right along the wooden support I have. JPG Joined Dec 13, Messages 8, It was easy to see the mark the pins made on the masking tape.

Drilled a small hole up through the masking tape to locate the pins on the hood. Then, after making this hole, I closed the hood, and put the urethane part over the pin sticking up through the hood. Then marked around the base of the urethane where I needed to trim. Used a Dremel and sanding drum to remove the extra.

The hood pins are exactly centered now. As for mounting the hinges I bought new SS hinges. I bolted the hinges to the cowl, trying to center the bolts on the holes. Set the hood in place and marked the location of the hinges across the back of the hood. Used those marks and a hinge to mark for holes in the back lip of the hood.

Vehicle hoods that are without properly placed or the correct number of hood pins may fly up and block a driver's vision. When driving at high speeds, the hood can rip off and cause damage to the hood and the vehicle. Although hood pins come in many different styles, most hood pin kits consist of a scratch plate, lanyard, pin clip, and a hood pin.

Some styles also include a bracket for mounting the hood pin. Besides the correct placement of hood pins, knowing how to drill hood pins holes properly is extremely important because if they are drilled improperly, pin holes can damage a hood.
